We waited 14 years to hold our son in our arms!

We are Hatice and Aydoğan Yıldız. We got married on June 27, 1993.We have been married for fourteen years.Throughout these fourteen years we always wanted to have a baby but it did not happen.Now, after all this time we finally held our son, Ahmet Ural, in our arms.
We went to several doctors and underwent several treatments for years.All of them failed.We suspect that a lot of false treatments were administered during this period.They all ended in grief.What’s more, financial hardship was a problem.Doctors could not find anything wrong with me or my husband.We wanted to experience parental love.We did not losehope for ten years. Finally, our hope wore off, after ten years of disappointment.In our fourteenth year, we met Ayşegül Ural in Ayvalık, Balikesir, thanks to our friends.She was working for the IVF department of German Hospital.This meeting marked a milestone in our life.She invited us to Istanbul for an information seminar.Following the seminar, she referred us to a doctor.Luck was now on our side.We felt it.We now had a very good-humored doctor who was deeply interested in us, who listened to us.So we started treatment.We were pessimistic because of financial hardships.In the midst of this pessimism, Ayşegül Ural, whom I would like to call my sister, and her husband assisted us in any way possible.On January 23, 2007, the transfer was performed.Deep inside our hearts, we felt that it would adhere.Though this might be the last and the shortest part of treatment for the doctors, for us it was the longest.We waited impatiently for the twelfth day.After giving blood we bought a pregnancy test from the pharmacy.We took the test by ourselves because we couldn’twait for the result of the blood test.Then the people at the hospital told us the good news: the result of the blood test was positive.My wife was pregnant after fourteen years.It was an indescribable feeling.We wanted to call everybody to give them the good news.We felt on top of the world.Now the exciting days had begun.The first three months passed by with apprehension and fear.When we felt our baby move we were inexplicably happy.My wife’s belly started to show.The very last months dragged on and on.We were impatiently looking forward to the due date.
We were counting each day.Then, the moment finally arrived. Since it was a risky pregnancy, doctors decided to perform a c-section on thetwelfth day of the eighth month.While on the operating table, we had problems with blood pressure because of our fear and excitement.When we left the operating room and entered the maternity ward, there was still excitement, but also happiness on every face.When the nurse brought the baby, when we held him in our arms for the first time, we felt as if we had not endured those past fourteen years at all.This was an indescribably marvelous feeling.We would like to thank our friends, Mrs. Ayşegül Ural and her husband, the doctors and staff of the German Hospital, and everybody else who helped us enjoy this happiness.May God grant this feeling to all and never leave anybody childless!
