My Short Story

I am writing my story to express my gratitude and happiness and say huge “Thank you” to my doctor -Guvenc Karlikaya for giving his best to make my dream come true. I was 38, almost 39 when I started with IVF treatments and after a few unsuccessful attempts in a different hospital in Istanbul, I went to Dr. Karlikaya. After we first met, I knew he is my doctor. He made a plan and told me ET on day 3 on the same cycle of the stimulation did not work for me, so he would collect eggs, even if he had to do it in 2 cycles, then he would freeze embryos on day 3 and thaw them, letting them reach day 5. Then he would make an FET on day 5 as this would give me a better chance. Letting the embryos to survive and develop 2 more days after they had been frozen on day 3 would be a great challenge for the embryos and that would mean we could count on really good embryos. He saw a polip in my emdometrium, expressed concern about one of my fallopian tubes and recommended histeroscopi and laparoscopi. I knew I would do both operations with him. So we stuck to the plan, I made the operations, tubes were fine, he removed the polip and said he did not see any major obstacles and problems. So after a few months of problems for me, I finally made it to the FET. After the long waiting for the result and total despair…..total shock of a positive test. I could not believe it! Now I am just in the beginning of a still long  way to go (11 weeks of the pregnancy), but I am hopeful and I can’t say thank you enough to the best doctor for me!
