The uterus, also known as the womb, is the organ where the baby is housed during pregnancy. It is located between the bladder and rectum and sits above the vaginal canal. The uterus resembles an inverted pear in shape.
The uterus has three parts. The upper, widest part is called the uterine body (corpus uteri). The lower, narrower part is the cervix. The area where these two sections connect is known as the isthmus (isthmus uteri). Many women’s health issues occur in the uterus. Here are some of the common uterine problems:
